Well said. I am familiar with the allergy. I saw the language of control in leadership, in places where names, words and terms were used to manipulate. It can cause hurt to people and to honest faith.

Makes it hard to see what is real when there is so much marketing and control.

Great recommendation. I found my faith in one of the Pentescostal churches and was quite miserable for a few years until I realised I was suppressing my intellectual side to believe all the things they want me to believe. As a result, I've been incredibly allergic to cult-like behaviour in and out of church. (And a big reason why I'm still one of the "unchurched" till this day).

It's sad that Jesus came to set us free, only to have his people turn around and enslave the people with rigid beliefs.
